Strong education systems are needed in a country so their economy and government will grow to be strong, secure and smart. Not all countries dedicate their time and money into the education of their citizens; it's proven through the government’s actions towards helping their community. Are they using the money to solve a large problem such as the lack of education, or are they using the money towards unnecessary work such as building statues? Perú needs to invest in education; most of the country is impoverished, but nothing is being done to improve their education so they can have better opportunities in life, and hopefully, rise out of poverty and into the middle class. No one will take initiative to help Perú's education until they see the influence education has on the country itself. The documentary I am creating does just that; I want to show my audience what impact education truly has on the country. I want to inform them on the variety of education systems that are offered in Perú and how these education systems will impact the country in the future. To organize myself and my ideas, I decided to write out anything that came to my mind which should be mentioned in the documentary. What would a project be without the brainstorming process? It took a while, but after a cramping hand and a notebook full of silly notes I was able to write the important factors of the documentary on the board to visualize it all at once. I wrote what I need to mention in the documentary such as the information I need when filming both schools, contacts I could possibly interview, what I want to prove through my documentary and of course, my guiding question. I knew I had to go more in depth on what I wanted my documentary to be, and after talking it out with some classmates, I decided to write a brief outline of all my ideas so that I could visualize them for improvement. Using another board I started to write down the content of what was going to be shown in green and my ideas for filming and how I would show it in the documentary was in red. Writing your ideas out always helps; it doesn't just organize your thoughts but also helps you realize what is missing or what needs to be changed. Making this outline allowed me to create an overall view of what my documentary will be. It's a pretty broad outline, but all I wanted to do was to get my ideas out there so I could build upon them. I never really understood just how important the outlining/brainstorming process is for the success of project. Before joining the IA we have always been
given the task sheet where there was an outline of what we had to accomplish through our project topics which were also given to us. Having autonomy has made me realize just how important it is to brainstorm and outline every project you do, especially now that we have complete autonomy regarding what we choose to do with our documentary. Now we are our own creators of the outlines we will use. We must build the project, collect research, edit our footage, interview and brainstorm all for our own benefit. I know we've been doing this the whole year in the IA, but I never knew just how important it was to get things done clearly and efficiently since the outline is what will determine the final outcome of our documentaries.
