Today was our first official day of the Innovation Academy.
We spent our day doing different things and learning more than I thought we would learn on our first day. We learned a lot about Purpose in life; whats the purpose of being in school, of learning, even what the purpose of the Innovation Academy is.
In a TED talk given by Simon Sinek, he talked about the Golden Circle; which consists of three words: Why, How and What.
Students who are Extrinsically motivated, have the mentality of looking at the How as their main goal in life; the How meaning their future, who they want to be and how they will be that person, what college they will attend and how they will achieve going to that college, how much money they will have through choosing a certain carrier, and how they will make sure that happens.
That is not the point in life.
Life was not created to worry about how you will get to the point where you want to be in life.
Learning is a process which is open, expressions are free, mistakes are made, and paths are changed. A main thing in life which people learning at school normally don't focus on, is on the people. Learning in a classroom listening to the teacher teach you a subject, is in a way very individual, even though you may be surrounded by many others.
You are learning for yourself and using that knowledge to benefit yourself and no one else. After discussions in class I believe that success comes from sharing with the people, making objectives be for the people, not for ourselves. While we do it for others, it makes us do things better, because we have a purpose of doing it. That makes me come to another point, you can't have a successful school career without having a purpose on why you want to learn. With no purpose there is no motivation to learn.
